About David River
Divorce Mediation

"Compared to litigation, couples in mediation are more likely to reach voluntary agreement, do so more quickly and cheaply, generate more comprehensive agreements, find it fairer and more sensitive to their needs, and thus be more satisfied with both the process and the outcomes."

Research by Benjamin and Irving

With over 35 years in development, divorce mediation has proven itself to be the best way to separate and/or divorce for the majority of couples. Our many clients prove that it is possible to end a relationship responsibly, reasonably, and amicably, while avoiding the expense and stress of attorney-led negotiation and litigation.

As the only ACR-certified Advanced Practitioner in Divorce Mediation in New Mexico, David River will walk you through the many decisions that must be made as part of a court-approvable, comprehensive divorce settlement. In mediation you will learn about your options and be supported to make the best possible choices for your situation. All clients are welcome to consult with independet legal council and other professionals at any time during the mediation to assist them in making good decisions, but as a part of the mediation process, you remain in the driver's seat.

Though you can begin mediation at any point in the divorce process, most clients prefer to file for divorce after having reached an agreement - allowing the mediator to walk them through the process from A to Z. When you file for divorce with a Memorandum of Agreement from your mediator, the court process is extremely simple and straightforward - usually allowing you to avoid appearing in court altogether.
